During the earlier seventh century, the kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England converted to Christianity. Quite what this conversion involved, and how far Christian practices survived from the late Roman world, is unclear.
Anglo-Saxon paganism seems to have been similar to its Scandinavian equivalent, with a related pantheon of gods (Woden/Odinn, Tyw/Tyw, Thunor/Thor).
