Blue started in re-enactment in 1975 and led the Northumbria group for many years. Having migrated to the UK from his native Australia, he lived and worked for most of his life in the coal mining community of Peterlee in County Durham. Having remained a member through six Chieftains & Konungr, his involvement was curtailed in his later years due to ill health, but he was presented with a Silver Drengr award a few months before his death in recognition of his long service.
As befitted a man of his nationality, he had strong opinions and was not afraid to voice them. His guidance and support over many years has helped Northumbria to survive and thrive as the society changed around it, and his encouragement to newer members was always generously given.
