Maille mittens

From the century high-status warriors are regularly shown wearing maille mittens. These seem to have covered the back of the hand, leaving the palm open. This made it easier to take the hand out of the mitten and leave it hanging from the wrist.
Mittens or gloves fully backed in maille rings, rather than normal padded gloves are therefore encouraged for serjeants and knights.
Note that maille mittens must still have adequate padding to meet the Viking Society's safety requirements – the maille is not considered sufficient protection on its own.
