Reed pipes

I refer specifically to the fragmented pipes found at Falster and Lund, and on the Roskilde ship. The wooden pieces were holed, and apparently had a cone of horn on one end. It has been speculated that they were chanters for an early bagpipe that had long since rotted away. It is, however, far more likely that they were reed pipes in their own right, probably resembling the Welsh Pibgorn that still exists today.
