Wooden Flutes Any native branch that could be hollowed out would make a fine musical instrument. Simple recorders made of elder wood have a beautiful, mellow tone. River cane pipes have a more funky, Kazoo type sound.

Overtone flutes with no holes are also applicable; notes are changed solely through breath pressure. They can be side or end blown.
