Hoards

Some of the most famous remains we have from the Viking age is the numerous treasure hoards that have been found. They range from just a small collection of coins to the magnificent Spilling hoard from Gotland.

The Spilling hoard[6] is the greatest hoard ever found, containing 67kg silver and 20kg bronze. The silver is mainly in the form of bracelets and the bronze contains a large proportion of fragments from Slavic neckrings.
