Core kit types
The Vikings Society primarily re-enacts events in the British Isles c.800-1100. We expect all members of the Society to have or work towards at least one set of kit from the following commonly-used racial and kit types:
Specialist kit types
In addition, this wiki covers some of the other societies of early medieval Europe with significant contact with the British Isles c.800-1100. Members of the Vikings Society may only use these kit types at Society events at the datelines indicated - if you are at all in doubt, please contact the show organisers beforehand to check.
Specialised racial types may be used as a second kit check only for members of the Vikings Society seeking promotion to Drengr.
Highly specialist kit types
For completeness, the wiki includes some of the important and culturally influential areas, such as Byzantium and the Frankish empire. There is no evidence to suggest that foreigners from so far afield were present in the British Isles c.800-1100 in any noticeable number (excepting the presence of Normans from the mid-eleventh century.
These highly specialised racial types are included for information and for completeness. Highly specialised kit types will not ordinarily be accepted as kit checks for members of the Vikings Society seeking promotion to Drengr.
Members of the Vikings Society may not use them at Society events in the British Isles unless explicitly permitted.
